La Porte Gold Star Families Memorial Monument

It took over 2 years, countless hours, endless prayers, and many dedicated hands but this beautiful monument now calls La Porte home!

When it came time to raise the funds needed for such a beautiful work of art countless individuals made contributions, numerous companies sponsored the PFC Matthew K Guyon Golf Tournament. La Porte Economic Development Corporation & Economic Alliance Houston Port Region also gave grants. La Porte's Mayor Rigby & fellow City Council Members generously donated the location. Argos US & Gulf Coast Limestone donated the concrete and the labor. Special nod to Rob Van Til, TJ Walker, & Mark Dunlap - you guys made this vision a reality with your dedication and persistent commitment! Assistant City Manager, Matt Dauemer and his remarkable team at the La Porte park's department went above and beyond in creating an inviting space, installing lights, assisting in the dedication, and a list that would go on forever. The city of La Porte genuinely went above and beyond! There were many individuals who helped behind the scenes, some that I may never know; please accept our endless gratitude for your time and efforts!

Alex Nauert, Kelland Garland, & the entire Hershel "Woody" Williams organization, Thank you! Bailey Granite & Monuments, who drove all the way from Kentucky to make sure this monument was installed properly. Who also prayed over this monument before placing any panels on the base. You guys are amazing!

Fellow Board members La Porte Chief Steve Deardorff & Chamber of Commerce President Jeff Martin, thank you!!

Sons of the Republic of Texas-Deaf Smith Chapter, Cortez Norris American Legion Post 319, La Porte JROTC, Aaron Walker, Delaney Pedigo, Christopher Edmiston, Bowen Nowetner, Jay Martin, Mark McVey, & Steve Walker - your role in the dedication ceremony made it the amazing event that it was! Thank you for your time and enthusiasm to make the dedication ceremony so incredibly special!

To our friends & family - your continued prayers and support are not overlooked. We couldn't be more blessed by the support we have received.

Lastly, to our fellow Gold Star Families, you are not alone and we pray this monument will be a reminder that your hero will always be held in a place of honor and the sacrifice made not only by your service member but by the family will never be forgotten.
