A heartfelt thank you to Ana Hernandez and her husband, Carlos, Gold Star parents of Lance Corporal Armando Hernandez, USMC. Ana fought to ensure that Gold Star families would have a place in this tribute, allowing our fallen heroes to be honored alongside the residents of Splendora. She understood how important it was for these families and their children to be included, remembered, and recognized.
As a Gold Star mom herself, Ana knows that behind every name is a family whose world has been forever changed. Her determination to make room for our heroes speaks volumes about her heart and her commitment to keeping their legacies alive. Together, Ana and Carlos have helped create something that reaches far beyond the boundaries of one community.
For our family, seeing Matthew’s picture and name displayed for others to see is a reminder that his life mattered, his service mattered, and his memory continues to live on. We cannot bring our son home, but we can hold on to the moments when others help ensure the world remembers him.
