We’ve Got Your Six: The PFC Matthew K. Guyon Foundation Backs the Blue

On October 17, 2026, the PFC Matthew K. Guyon Foundation was proud to sponsor the 6th Annual Back the Blue BBQ Festival & 5K Family Fun Run, bringing together the La Porte and Deer Park communities to honor the brave men and women who serve in law enforcement.
Held at the Jimmy Burke Activity Center in Deer Park, this year’s event embraced the theme “We’ve Got Your Six” — a reminder of the importance of standing together, supporting one another, and showing up for those who dedicate their lives to protecting our communities.
We were honored to support this event as a sponsor, but we also came out to enjoy the day! From the BBQ cookoff and 5K fun run to the kids’ zone, vendors, classic car show, silent auction, and live entertainment, there was something for everyone. It was a wonderful opportunity to spend time with our community while supporting a cause that means so much to our family.
A Personal Connection to the Blue

For our family, supporting the La Porte Police Department is more than a sponsorship. It is personal. Both Matthew and his brother, Nicholas, were members of the La Porte Police Explorers program. Through that experience, they developed a connection with the department and the law enforcement community that continues to hold a special place in our hearts.
Because of that connection, giving back to the officers who serve our hometown is especially meaningful. These are the people who dedicate themselves to protecting our families, helping our neighbors, and being there when our community needs them most.
As Matthew’s family, we know how important it is to keep his memory alive through the things that mattered to him and through the relationships and experiences that helped shape his life.
Continuing Matthew’s Legacy Through Service
The mission of the PFC Matthew K. Guyon Foundation is to honor Matthew’s memory by making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Whether we are supporting students through scholarships, honoring our fallen heroes, or investing in our local community, we believe that keeping Matthew’s legacy alive means continuing to serve.
Sponsoring Back the Blue was another opportunity to put that commitment into action.
We are grateful to the La Porte and Deer Park Police Departments, the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Associations, the event organizers, volunteers, fellow sponsors, and everyone who helped make this year’s festival possible. Thank you for creating an event that brings families together while recognizing and supporting the men and women in law enforcement. We left with grateful hearts, proud to have been part of such a meaningful community event.
We’ve Got Your Six. We Back the Blue. And we will continue to honor Matthew by giving back to the community he called home.
